Scouting is based on volunteers who give their time and effort to provide the young people with the skills for life that can make a real difference to our communities.
We keep the monthly subscriptions as low as possible; these subs cover things like insurances, utilities and the endless upkeep of our HQ. We keep the subs low for one reason -- To enable all children the opportunity to attend our Group regardless of financial circumstances.
On Saturday morning, during the preparation for a sleepover for the Beaver section (5 - 7 yo), our old boiler finally stopped working and now needs replacing. the volunteers had been working for months to make it a magical evening for the children, and on hearing of the prospect of cancellation, parents and local people came together to lend us 'plugin' oil-filled radiators to heat the hall for the night.
We now need to raise £1600 to pay for the purchase and fitting of the new boiler and ask that you might consider chipping in with a pound or two.
One local councillor has already offered to donate some money, and we currently have a charity programme running at ASDA Newquay that could provide between £200 and £500, so we are on our way to this target but need a help in hand for the rest.
