Green Carnation Company are absolutely thrilled to be producing Kevin Elyot’s wonderful play, ‘My Night with Reg’, and taking it on the road, stopping at 5 established (and very exciting) venues along the way!
So far, we have been unsuccessful in our bid to gain Arts Council Funding for this project. As a result, we have set up this Crowdfunder in order to allow you to support directors Dan J and Dan E in this endeavour we are both so passionate about, and ultimately bask in the warm glow of joy and pride in knowing that you helped us achieve what promises to be a fantastic piece of theatre.
Any money donated by you lovely, lovely, LOVELY people will be used in the following ways:
“But what exactly is ‘My Night With Reg’?” I hear you say. Well, in summary….
In 1985, in a London flat, old friends and lovers gather to celebrate new beginnings, yet their whole world is about to change…
Funny, sad and sweet, Kevin Elyot’s award-winning dark comedy play about the relationships of a group of gay men and their connections to the unseen yet magnetic Reg is a moving exploration of friendship, happiness and love, and their fragility in the shadow of the 1980’s AIDS crisis.
We are very proud to also be supporting George House Trust, a Manchester based charity providing services to people living with, and affected by, HIV. (https://ght.org.uk/)
On its travels, ‘My Night With Reg’ will be performed at theatres in Salford, Hull, Huddersfield, Durham and Coventry
As a company we want to tell queer stories through quality theatre. Last year we staged ‘The Pride’ at Hope Mill Theatre, and sold out 6 out of 7 performances, and got some flipping amazing feedback and reviews:
‘A THOUGHTFUL, ATMOSPHERIC PRODUCTION WITH EXCELLENT PERFORMANCES’ British Theatre Guide on ‘The Pride’, 2018
★★★★ ‘REFRESHINGLY FRANK AND VERY HUMAN – A DELIGHT’ NorthWestEnd on ‘The Pride’, 2018
★★★★ ‘THE STAGING IS PERFECT AND PERFORMANCES ON THE WHOLE STELLAR’ Opening Night on ‘The Pride’, 2018
We want to maintain – no – exceed the reputation we received last year and you can help us do just that!
We are aware that this page is being shared at a festive time of year, but Dan and I have agreed, If you would be so kind as to pop a few shillings toward our crowdfunder instead of buying one of us a large glass of red at the work Christmas party this year, we would love you forever!
This project offers rewards in return for your donation.
