The Big Training Company is a not for profit organisation which was established to support people regardless of gender, race, ethnicity or disability in realizing and achieving their goals and ambitions however big or small. My community is a project which adopts a new approach to supporting people in the community. Through research at grassroots it is clear that whilst people recognize that there are lots of projects out there, they are unsure of how these can benefit them and what they can do to help their-selves and how to make this happen. Working in education I have also seen first-hand how common it is that people have many challenges of varying nature and unless these are resolved and dealt with they are not able to realize their potential. This project will wrap around the individual and not the other way round! It will treat people as people, with respect. Whilst it is important to map success those typically benefiting from this project will be low in confidence, they may not be able to read or write and will not have been in education for some time therefore they are typically not seen as attractive for programmes which require high achievement tracking performance. The support workers will source training, further support and resources all under one roof! As much as possible and within realistic scope this will be funded through the crowd-funders fund. For some this project will transform their lives those around them. My community will provide the following support: Step one; the service will offer a robust wrap around service which is built on excellent initial advice and guidance to identify where people need support. This will identify any challenges, issues, support needs. Step two will design the action support programme with the individual, this may involve training, volunteering, coaching, mentoring, support with access to information, applying for a passport to be able to apply for a job, completing applications for funding to the princes trust or other organisations. Step 3 will be to support the individual in carrying out and achieving their goal and finally step 4 will celebrate progression and achievement of real impact goals such as entering employment, financial capability, and progression in education, mentoring or volunteering. The reality is that this project will help people to become more able to support their selves and others around them. Your contribution to this great project, whatever its monetary value, will be worth so much more to those who benefit from it. This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to be part of a community based project, to give something back. Even £1 can go along way! The project will run in the North of Nottinghamshire and applications to other potential funders for specific services are in progress. Funds raised will cover overheads including staffing to support the day to day running of the project. Over the 12 months from August to July 2019 the full project will cost £200,000. We aim to support between 250 and 400 people with this project, depending on the need of each person and the extent of support they require. A full project report will be given to all funders at 4, 8 and 12 months by video and written report. This will include stories of what the project has achieved and reviews of what has been improved. We shall be registered with the appropriate boards for any awarding bodies and are happy for supporters to check in on the progress of the project at any time!
There will be 4.5 experienced members of staff employed by this projects on salaries of no more than £25,000 for a full time Support Advisor working 37.5 hours per week.
