WHY NOW?
2021 is a time of unprecedented social isolation, adversely effecting our elder generation more than ever. Our work is a vital antidote to the negative health & wellbeing impacts of social isolation, and a meaningful thread of connection for people with the least access to their external community, their family and their friends.
ABOUT US
Musical Walkabout CIC brings music into care settings, using a fun, person-centred model to engage and connect with people experiencing social isolation or living with a dementia.
A community interest company started by Nina Clark in 2015, in the last 5 years, Musical Walkabout has delivered 650 music sessions ~ meaning 5750 songs! In 2020, Lucy Freeman joined the Musical Walkabout team to help us spread the word and offer more services to care clients.
OUR ETHOS
We are passionate about music being accessible to everybody; it's a human right.
Musical Walkabout is an inclusive creative experience, valuing individual's contributions, and welcoming wide participation from everyone in the care setting.
COVID-19 is putting the health and social care sector under enormous strain. This is a crucial time to expand the reach of Musical Walkabout, and share our practice.
OUR GOALS
With the money raised, our goals are to engage more people with bespoke music sessions, and teach our methods to care staff and carers in 2021, empowering everyone to use music to benefit their health and wellbeing.
