Does anyone know someone who can....?
I have been part of so many conversations in community music groups that have started with this question. This sparked the idea for the creation of website that will aim to give the answer.
Music in my Community will be made up of 3 elements that hopes to inspire collaboration, provide visibility to third parties looking for groups to perform and provide tools to aid community music groups to flourish.
This will allow signed up groups to post volunteering opportunities and third parties to provide opportunities for performance.
Community Music Map
Community music organisations will be able to sign up for free and give details of their activities, location(s), volunteer requirements, contact details and links to social media. The aim is to increase awareness and inspire collaboration
Individuals will be able to sign up for an annual fee to advertise their professional services e.g. design, recording. This will be a tool for community music groups to link with professionals in their area.
Music in my Community will to cut across all music genres and band/group makes ups and will be available for all UK based community music organisations. Many genres already have their own websites and forums dedicated to finding deps, recruiting new players and mapping locations however these may not be radar of some volunteers who may love music and want to be involved and give their time to a great cause.
In a survey I conducted I asked community music groups questions surrounding difficulty in finding volunteers and opportunities to perform.
- 10% responded that they never performed with other groups
- 17% responded saying that they found it either difficult or very difficult to get opportunities to perform
- 42% responded saying that they found it either difficult or very difficult get volunteers to aid with the running of their group
How is the money being spent?
Your generous donation will allow a website to be built, covering subscriptions for one year and professional logo and marketing materials to be created. After year one, fees from professionals signing up to the directory will keep the website subscribed.
The website will also celebrate successful collaborations and enable groups to find that someone who to allow them to flourish and grow.
