Music for Haiti UK has supported the music programme at École St Vincent, a school for blind and disabled children in Port-au-Prince, since the devastating earthquake of 2010. We have provided musical instruments, both Braille and printed music, manuscript booklets and spare strings and reeds. St Vincent's now has a fledgling Music School where children are taught by professional Haitian music teachers. Blind students play in an English handbell choir, conducted by a music teacher who is also blind. This project aims to equip St Vincent's Music School to offer a full programme of music education, from music history, theory and composition to performance in ensembles. The money raised will enable the Music School to offer music lessons, to give concerts and to provide scholarships for children to attend summer music camp and the National Orchestra Institute in Haiti. Music education offers children a future, whether they become professional musicians or play for pure enjoyment. Join Music for Haiti UK in giving the children of St Vincent's Music School the gift of music for life!
