MammaKind wants to help babies and young children get the best start in life and to start that life with dignity. We believe that means having access to toiletries that keep children clean and healthy, having somewhere safe to sleep and enough food to eat. It means having a mum who is not stressed and fearful, worrying where the next nappy is going to come from and whether or not she can afford to feed herself.
We've supported women who couldn't send their children to nursery as they had no nappies to send them with. We've had women going into labour while on the phone, talking to us because they had nothing. We've seen babies who have just started crawling living in accommodation with concrete floors and no carpets. We've provided presents for children who would have otherwise woken on Christmas day thinking Santa hadn't come. We've improved the lives of all of these families and many more since the pandemic began.
Providing necessities for children in poverty costs money. It costs money to buy essentials, and money to run our van, and money to fix prams and to buy new mattresses, and money to pay our bills, and money to buy PPE to keep our clients and volunteers safe.
Please help us to continue to improve the lives of mums and babies in South East London by donating to our cause or sharing it among your networks.
