We are raising money to bring support to local mums in the absence of government funding and the lack of mental health services

by Kelly Jones in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, England, United Kingdom

Mum's Alliance is a small community interest company looking to provide wellbeing and mental heath resources to mothers, whether that's in the first few weeks after giving birth, throughout pregnancy or as their child is growing older; we want to not only be an information bank but also to foster a community. Where we're based in the north east of England  government cuts have decimated the sure start program and the pandemic has mothers more isolated than ever, this is where our baby social project comes in.

We want to provide a free space to support young mothers with information packets, specialist speakers and the solidarity of knowing that every mum is trying their best. The money donated through this fund will go towards renting the local soft play to host the events, as well as paying for the time of midwives, breastfeeding experts and other specialists in baby care to come and speak with our community to offer advice and reassurance.

Funding will also go towards paying our 3 members of staff for their time spent organising the socials, gathering and producing our resources and distributing them through our website and social channels.

Mentioning our staff a note about the women running Mum's Alliance, our founder is a working mother of two, spurred to action by the lack of proper information presented before giving birth and the utter drop off afterwards, our website manager is a fervent advocate of proper mental health support.

We are looking to start off with one session a week, to start filling the gap in this vital support network. Every donation no matter how small helps, just £2 gives a mother and child a few hours of direct support.
