Mount Pleasant is a unique area of Bradford-on-Avon a lot of which is listed. The Mount Pleasant Club and Centre are situated in the heart of the community and although the site is split into two buildings they are interdependent.
In recent years the committee have raised funds and completed a new roof on one building but need a new roof on the Club building. They have already improved disabled access, in both buildings and have disabled facilities.
If a new roof is fitted to the club, the next project would be solar panels to try and decrease their carbon footprint, whilst also making the buildings more efficient.
The Club and Centre are used by the local community, they are in walkable distance and have a very good bus service which stops outside the site, this means people do not have to get in their car to travel to the next nearest venue, therefore reducing emissions and helping keep the community together locally, whilst helping the environment.
The Club and Centre often play host to the local school which is within walkable distance. The club and centre are involved in so many activities, across a wide age range.
From Mums and Babies meetings, Jazz nights, Slimming world, Dancing, Singing, Darts, Skittles, Morris Dancing and many other local events.
The New roof required will make sure that the Club and Centre can continue to provide a meeting place for all the activities carried out there.
The Site is run by a small dedicated team and they are constantly looking to improve the facilities to ensure the beautiful old buildings do not fall into disrepair and they are also always looking to find activities which the community can attend.
By raising enough money for the roof, they can then plan the next stage installing energy saving solar panels, this will reduce their carbon footprint to help the environment.
