We did it
On 26th February 2017 we successfully raised £10 with 2 supporters in 56 days

To replicate our startup branch into a different city to enjoy the same success and grow the brand.

by Jaime Turner in Ferndown, Dorset, England

Motura was launched on January 4th 2016 at its first location of Ferndown Industrial Estate, Wimborne, Dorset.

Motura was an idea that the founder Jaime Turner had been working on for sometime prior to opening, the idea was based around many years in the automotive industry, from being a small garage owner, running mobile engineering vans through to heading up the logisitcs and workshop operation for a national car sales business.

Having built a successful, efficient in house preparation centre for a sales operation, Jaime decided that the 'sausage factory' approach was not for him as the passion he had come to enjoy in providing a service to retail customers over the years just wasn't there anymore.

With a wealth of knowledge, amazing contacts and a very strong support network, home was re-mortgaged, cars were downsized and savings depleated to create Motura, an all under one roof cosmetic repair centre using the latest techniques and equipment to provide nearly all services a customer would require to keep thier pride and joy looking good, coupled with outstanding customer service and quality, this would make for a great business.

Social media was launched along with the brand in November 2015 to prepare for the doors to open in January 2016, immediately the sense of excitement was felt and bookings were actually made prior to opening and Jaime having the appropriate hands on skills, found himself repairing vehicles in December 2015 whilst building works and equipment installation were being carried out. The rest they say is history.

Official opening went as planned and immediately a trade source contacted Motura to look after their rental fleet of over 500 vehicles this gave Motura the startup boost it needed and were then able to establish a great client base alongside this. Retail customers were the core of the business for the first 5/6 months at which point Motura started to be contacted by many trade dealerships and also other repair centres to utilise Motura's advanced equipment, namely the state of the art £80,000 CNC diamond cutting machine for alloy wheels. Motura now finds itself dealing with an equal split of work between trade and retail with a local Bentley main dealer being the biggest trade customer.

It was always the aim to have 5 branches at the end of year 6 with the 2nd opening after year 2. We have now decided to bring this forward and get the 2nd branch opened as soon as possible, fully replicating our flagship site. We have decided this based on the success of the brand and the demand we have indentified for a no nonsense repair centre that is not working to tight insurance budgets and bonus incentives to thier staff. Some of our customers travel upto 100 miles to visit us as we portray expertise, transparancy and quality. Our fixed price matrix has proved a massive success.

As expected Motura has not yet generated the cash to open another site outright so needs funding of which Jaime has always been interested in a crowdfunding program as opposed to normal high street borrowing with the belief this is the future.

We have shortlisted 3 locations to open the 2nd branch and a final decision wil be made once we have conducted some further market research and competition searches.
