Last summer we held the Beeston Street Art Festival funded by corporate sponsorship and a crowdfund to bring Street Art attractions to Beeston in Nottingham. It was a great success which brought 22+ artists to town and created permanent artworks in 11 locations. The success of the festival prompted Broxtowe Council to vote to spend an £8k art fund they inherited from Henry Boot Plc on Street Art on Beeston precinct, firstly with a massive commission by Zabou pictured above. Now, after VERY long and difficult deliberation of the MANY excellent design submissions we received, they have decided upon a second commission with the remaining money; a nature themed landscape mural about Beeston (originally derived from 'Beos' meaning 'tall or bent grass' and 'Tun' meaning 'farm or settlement’) by Mural Life AKA Qubek, who enjoys painting flora and bees.
We want to thank all the artists who submitted for this opportunity and to assure you that not being chosen for this particular wall is not a reflection on your ideas or abilities - the party leaders just decided this offer would best represent Beeston, while also complimenting Zabou’s completed commission alongside.
More than just offering thanks though, we have decided to launch this Crowdfund to help bring as many of your wonderful designs to town as possible in due course on private walls! We have only just begun to develop Beeston’s identity as a top UK destination for Street Art and want to bring many more varied pieces to town in 2019 and beyond!
Artists who submitted designs offers that we would like to bring to Beeston, who have not yet painted here include (in no particular order); Rise and Signs, Bifido, Brad Waters, Tank Petrol, Jim Vision, N4T4, Alex Rubes, Mr Cenz, NeSpoon, Otto Schade, Pablito Zago, SoapSpray90 and Peter Barber. We hope to host all of you and more in due course!
