Climbing benefits the body and mind, mentally, socially and physically.
The inclusive space will be for all abilities to take part in climbing. Climbing is a family engagement. Children as young as 2 years can learn to climb with their parents. At this age they already have sufficient motor skills to start acquiring basic movements in the form of play.
Whether for fun, health and fitness or in preparation for the 2020 Olympics, our Bouldering Room will provide the springboards.
Artificial climbing facilities such as dedicated indoor climbing walls provide a safe, controlled, supervised environment where beginner to professional climbers of all ages can climb alone or together. The Bouldering room will be accessible all year round.
The bouldering room will consist of a low-level traversing wall, bouldering wall, overhanging wall, a top roped / bolted leading wall and the first of its kind in the UK, the revolutionary rotating climbing wall.
Trained staff will teach the necessary safety techniques and Climbing Award Schemes will be available for those wishing to progress.
As a nation we aren’t doing enough exercise to meet the amount recommended by the physical activity guidelines.
As a community, we do not have the recourses to bring the community together to learn new skills. Our local communities are located on the door step of Snowdonia a climbing heaven that is now in high demand. Climbing will provide the ability to reconnect people and also introduce them to the natural environment.
The NEWP states that “a healthy, properly functioning natural environment is the foundation of sustained economic growth, prospering communities and personal wellbeing” and that “everyone should have fair access to a good quality natural environment”.
Having a Bouldering Room will improve climbing grade, increase their health and wellbeing, academic performance, social skills and development.
The Bouldering Room will hold regular school sessions, breakfast / after school clubs and fun community competitions. Providing a hub for the community.
We will also be providing employment opportunities for the community, as well as using local and economical products to supply our centre.
Climbing from a young age provides many physical, social and mental benefits:
