Hello my names graham , im 37 and have been metal detecting scince a young boy and im going to share my knowledge with the next generation by running  free workshops for disadvantaged children aged 5-16 years and there family /carers/ gaurdians at weekends and during school  holidays . I was metal detecting on a beach during the summer and kept getting children approaching me asking "you found the pirates treasure mister ?" i replied yes and gave them a 2p coin i had found , the smile on there face made my heart melt ! , another boy with his father was asking to dig the holes for me so i let them follow me along the beach for a while then the boy was asking his dad to buy him a metal detector , to which his dad replied "i cant afford one they are to expensive" , i felt so sorry for this boy he was hooked within 10 mins of digging !! .This is where my idea to run a workshop came from i realised children love the idea of finding treasure , and at the same time it gets them out in fresh air away from their  i pads and gaming machines learning about history    . The funds raised will go to purchase 5 childrens metal detectors and some digging equiptment i hope to run the first workshop this autumn half term 2018 lets get these kids digging !! .
