"Finally I feel there is light at the end of the tunnel......"
One in four adults and one in ten young people in Harrow experience mental health problems, be it anxiety, depression or suicidal feelings – and many don't know where to turn for confidential support and practical advice about local services.
Every year over 5000 local people contact Mind in Harrow’s Mental Health Helpline - Harrow’s only comprehensive Mental Health Information Service open Mon – Fri 9-5 and online 24/7. Last year, the Helpline managed 40% more enquiries than targeted and we estimate a similar rise again – but we need £6,000 to recruit, train and support Helpline Volunteers to keep this vital service running.
"It's quite simple. Without Mind in Harrow I don't think I'd be here today. Their Helpline was quite literally my life-line. They listened. They didn't judge. They put me in contact with some great local support. And finally, I feel there is a light at the end of the tunnel."
This is typical of what callers to our Helpline tell us and affirms time and again that our Helpline really makes a difference to local people.
