Elevated family stress around finances, jobs, health, the impact of social restrictions and isolation are all having a hugely negative impact on the mental health of the nation.
Crowdfunder's #MentalHealthMatters campaign aims to shine a light on this widespread issue and Mind mental health charities across the UK are taking part.
Mind in Haringey are taking part under the additional hashtag #Time4Mind.
Mind in Haringey provides information, advice and support to people affected by mental health problems, primarily in Haringey. We work to prevent mental health problems, promote mental well being and ensure those with mental health problems are respected and included in our local community.
Throughout the pandemic, Mind in Haringey has been dedicated to delivering mental health service to the borough by whatever means possible. Currently, we are offering a blended approach with our services: our counselling, advocacy and peer support services are all over the phone or online but we are able to provide small groups and activities face-to-face in our building, following social distancing guidelines and all other covid safety protocols including staff being tested weekly.
Since the first lockdown we have launched two new services: a free counselling services for frontline workers in Haringey and the Safe Haven and a crisis support line.
We have adapted and devised new ways of supporting our clients, reacting to their needs, including: providing smart phones for our most isolated clients and food vouchers.
We are continuing to deliver our two day Mental Health First Aid training face-to-face, empowering people with the knowledge and skills to tackle the stigma around mental health, deal with a mental health crisis appropriately and look after their own wellbeing.
