Michael and I are doing a charity trek in Nepal this November, trekking for 12 days in total, and as high as 5160m (Gorakshep). The trek will be extremely challenging, with each day taking between 3 and 9 hours to complete, (depending on the gradient) though it could take longer depending on how tired we are!

We are doing this to raise money for 3 charities.

On Saturday the 22nd September this year, Laura Mackintosh sadly passed away. Although I wasn’t personally close to Laura, I know she was an amazing wife to Stuart, mother to Morgan and best friend to my sister. As she had a keen interest in fitness, (she put me to shame!) I asked her if we could raise money for charities that were close to her. These are her words:

“Good on you for taking on such a mammoth task, but I know you will smash it out the park all whilst singing “the hills are alive”!

I guess two that are close would be NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) who looked after Morgan for 4 months when she was born prem, and the other would be the Look Good Feel Better group that offer classes for those going through chemo to show how to do your makeup, wigs and head wraps. It was such a feel good thing that they do for free and all the people that do ur makeup for you do it as volunteers. U also get given the most amazing goodie bag with makeup to suit you etc. Def boosted the confidence in accepting the bald look.”

We will also be raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Any money you are able to spare for these amazing charities would be very much appreciated. It will also really help to motivate us, and keep us in high spirits!

Please note, ALL money raised will go directly to the charities and is in no way going towards the cost of the trek.

Hopefully we make it back in one piece!

Many thanks in advance,

Claire & Michael
