Unfortunately this project was not successful.

My aim is to engage and raise awareness and educate Organ Donation & the New Law change to the local communities and raise donations.

by Michelle Hemmings in Birmingham, England, United Kingdom

I was on an Orgna Donation waiting list for about 10 years before a compatible donor was found which allowed me to undergo a successful single lung transplant in February 2018.

I became one of the "Famous Five", being one of five patients to have a transplant operation carried out at The Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire within 36 hour period which has become a record in term of the hospital performance in carrying out so many transplants in such a short space of time.

My team is made up of quite a lot of members who have expertise in a wide range of areas.

They are all euthuastic, lively and caring bunch of people.

My idea since I had my gift of life is to, engage and raise awareness and educate local communities on Health and Wellbeing throughout the Birmingham area.

This will involve giving local talks, sign posting, telling my story, working with Health Professionals and targeted work with the BAME communities.

My vision is to promote the awareness of Organ Donation within the society and particularly but not exclusively in the BAME community.

to promote the awareness of the law surrounding organ donation and the new 'opt out' system and its ramifications.

To deliver a large scale Community Holistic Health and Wellbeing Event.

The money would be spent on a wide of advertising, putting on events, donating to Royal Papworth and SWBH Hospital projects, etc...
