Having been involved in philanthropic initiatives for over 10 years, (http://www.kiva.org/lender/sanjay2028), in my own small way, I now plan to be directly involved hands-on by volunteering myself for 10 days. I have identified a cause and a location where I intend to volunteer, which is in Mfangano In Kenya. I plan to spend about 10 days there helping the community by providing lessons in spoken English, help spread the immediate needs of the communities there and find ways to get funding from individuals and organizations to improve the quality of life of the residents there. These would be primarily educational and health needs.
Schools require pencils, pens, paper, books, and communities requires items for maintaining better health and personal hygiene.
I propose to be there this from 15th to around 26th of December 2018.
Every donation is valuable, and I would request you to help in whatever small way you can, from as low as $1 or £1 or any denomination in any currency. If you could also share this link among your friends and family, that would also help.
I aim to post updates at least every 2 days while I am there to ensure you know where the funds are going and benefitting the communities there.
This is not the last, but a first of many direct volunteering initiatives I will get involved with over the next few years.
If you have any questions regarding this, please ask and I shall be able to provide you with some answers.
I am also seeking additional funding from organizations through this forum, so if anyone can help provide me with some guidance, that would be welcome.
