To mentor and support local non profit charities through strategic marketing to increase their fundraising and to grow a team of mentors.

by Niki Sohrabkhani in London, England, United Kingdom

I've always wanted to give back to the community but only been able to help in a small personal way through donations. But, there are freelance consultants like myself who have the capacity to share our skills and knowledge for the greater good.

Local charities are the unsung heroes - they have fantastic causes from learning disabilities (PIP) to homelessness (St Mungos), Paddington Food Bank to Autism but they don't always have the in house expertise (or have the budget) to market themselves to a greater audience, acquire new corporate patrons or create engaging fundraising events.

My dream is to create a robust mentoring team of experts like myself who are highly experienced, willing to donate their time and share their expertise to help give these charities a greater voice and raise more funds. A simple concept but this takes a significant amount of time and money to set up and run and to demonstrate results.

I will volunteer so my time is free but will need funds to recruit the mentors (who will volunteer for free), meet with the charities (I've met with PIP already) and match skills with those the charities require, set KPIs, implement a programme of work, manage, oversee and report to each charity. The money raised will also provide 'tool kits' for each charity - training packs, contacts, marketing plans, ideas.

Once we have funds in place, we would raise additional funds to grow our mentor network, training tool kits, events, promotion and charity reach.
