Greenhillock Glamping is a new, five-star eco campsite set in a beautiful wildflower meadow in Angus. We offer our guests a relaxed, back to basics camping experience where camp fires are a must! Our generous pitches nestle amongst the wildflowers and the site is bordered on all sides by mature, native hedges which provide lots of shelter as well as homes for our huge population of birds.
Our focus is providing space for play and exploration, time away from screens and getting up close to nature. As well as our fantastic den building area which encourages creative play, we offer guests the chance to learn about our wildlife with mini-beast hunts and pond dipping expeditions. In our first season, 2016 our guests told us that they loved being out in nature and 91% percent of them told as they learnt about wildlife as a result of their stay.

"We stayed with two autistic children who are usually very technology-obsessed, but they barely came indoors all weekend. There was plenty for the children to do - den-building, bug hunting, and just being outdoors and enjoying the amazing location"

What are we funding?
We want to make even more of our enviromental programme so guests can enjoy a range of daily activities such as guided nature walks, arty workshops and bush crafts. We have some funding in place to start this project but we need to raise more so that we can build a permanent building to house the Bug Zone and Art Shack (which are currently in tents) and buy more equipment like nets, magnifiers and microscopes. We also want to introduce a range of environmental workshops which will help people learn more about habitat conservation and bio-diversity. Activities will include making bug houses, leaf printing, identifying animal tracks and signs, camp cooking, flag making, building a bird box, make a natural musical instrument and much, much more.

"Its such a lovely safe space for children with lots of really creative things to do in nature. My daughter really likes the Art Shack”
The Art Shack (lovely but leaky in the rain!)
How will your money be spent?
Your pledge will help us to build and equip our Wildlife Lodge. The Lodge will be the first permanent building on site dedicated to conservation. It will house our expanding collection of scientific equipment and materials. The Lodge will be located in the South Paddock overlooking the Wildlife Pond making it an ideal spot for pond dippers to examine their specimens. The flat roof of the lodge will create an observation platform for bird watching during the day and star gazing and bat detecting at night. All our art and craft materials will be safe and dry in here as well as our budding artists (no more leaky roof!). In the future we would like to use the Wildlife Lodge to run short courses in photography, painting and creative writing. Guests would stay in our beautiful bell tents by night and develop their creativity by day.

Who's it for?
The Wildlife Lodge and activities will be open to overnight guests and day visitors so you can support our campaign whether you live locally or come from further afield. We aim to create a resource for everyone. Children and adults alike will be offered the chance to immerse themselves in this amazing place and through this experience, we will promote the importance of the natural world and everyone's role in conserving it.

“As soon as we arrived our children ran off to play and apart from when they were hungry, they spent every waking minute we were at the campsite exploring and playing independently. It is such a safe, natural environment for children and adults alike.”
