A 'Speedflex' gym in Laurencekirk is closing down at the end of November due to mis-management and myself and another member of the community want to raise some funds to keep some of the machines in Laurencekirk and open a small studio nearby.
With £100.000 this would give us enough funds to get our studio and kit it out with the machines and other fitness equipment for other types of fitness classes.
We plan to open this up to all ages, having a youth section where teens can come and work out, an 'older' section where the more mature mover can workout safely and also bring jobs to the area by letting personal trainers and aspiring trainers work, study and develop within the studio.
We will be giving 5% of our takings to local charities 'Mearns Community Transport' and 'Multisport court regeneration fund' as we believe it is important to give back to the community.
If we managed to raise £400,000 we would be able to buy the gym and keep fitness in the community.
