A unexpected leap of fete resulted us finding our soul mates. Me a maths teacher born and bred in the midlands and Julien a well travelled French man returning from his most recent adventure as a Cordon Bleu baking teacher in seoul.
After some time we decided that the sixty mile commute was no longer manageable and being apart was not an option. It was at this point that we decided that we needed to be together on a permanent basis. The problem is for such a highly skilled baker the options for work were few and far between. It was at this point that in our village, albeit not too far from solihull town centre, a small shop became available, right next to the local free range butchers. We decided to take all of our savings and invest in a small bakery business next door to the small but popular butchers which sells high quality meats and a well established light shop. We joked about the butchers the bakers and candle stick makers!!
No projects are without their problems and our budget has always been rather tight but despite the hurdles we are plugging away to get this up and running by sourcing refurbished machinery, calling in help from friends and family.
We really want to create the heart of the village with quality products where people can stop take a coffee and pastry but without some support our dreams appear to be slipping through our fingers.
