With the ever increasing demand on frontline ambulance services, casualties rescued by lifeboats and coastguard teams often find themselves wait hours for the ambulance to arrive on scene.
The lifeboat and coastguard volunteers do an amazing job and are trained in casualty care; advanced form of first aid. Often the skills of a registered health care professional such as a Paramedic or Doctor is needed to medically assess and treat the patient.
Coast Medic is the registered charity that provides Paramedics to support the coastguard and lifeboat service during medical emergencies at sea, over the cliff and during flooding. Our medics can deliver advanced medical treatment, carry the full portfolio of lifesaving medications and have specialist training in marine, cliff and swift water operations making them ready to go where land ambulance crews cannot.
We have now established a 24/7 emergency response centre capable of dispatching our on-call paramedics who are able to deliver medical support until the arrival of the front-line ambulance service. We wish to provide this service on a pilot scheme over a 10 month period within West Cornwall. During this time we look to roll the service out further afield.
Please support our project. The funds raised through this crowd funding campaign will assist us with covering the operational costs involved with providing the response desk and on call paramedics. We would ideally look to purchase a suitable response vehicle in order to increase public awareness and provide a solution to store our medical equipment.
