Great care has been taken to get our proposal right. We are currently working with 3 playground specialist companies to ensure that we pick the right equipment to not only compliment the beautiful location of our site but also stand the test of time allowing the investment to continue to be enjoyed for many years whilst ensuring that the money is spent wisely to get the very best with what we have.
We have included a range of play equipment to suit age ranges from 1 to 12 and for children with different abilities. Designed with a natural flow to each piece of equipment and with enough space to allow many people to enjoy it at the same time.
We plan to install a path connecting the main car park and a public footpath on the other side of the recreation ground.
We see this as a crucial part of our vision. The path will allow a safe route around the play equipment and allow access for all. It also provides a safe walking route through the village as many options are not pathed which is often the case rural villages. The local primary school has recently introduced a Park and Stride scheme where parents drop their children at our recreation ground car park and they then walk supervised by school volunteers across the ground, this has seen attendance of upto 30% of the school children and parents are keen to see this continue. It is our hope that the path will allow this to happen over the wet winter months.
We hope to complete Junior and Pre School play areas.
Our Junior Play section will include a new adventure trail with exciting elements such as low climbing wall, bridges and balance beams plus a large multi play unit including 2 slides and different ways of accessing the bridged area and small roundabout. We have worked with our local primary school and shown the school children our different plans for them to choose their favourite equipment pieces.
Our Pre School section will include a smaller multiplay unit with slide, balance beams, man made hills connected with a wobbly bridge, talking flowers to encourage communication and a music area for imaginative play. We have consulted with our local pre school who hope to make good use of the new facilities and received fantastic feedback.
We have also included a new swing area with 2 flat seats, a toddler seat and a tango seat fantastic for carer/child interaction.
As this is somewhere we want to promote families enjoying outside space, we hope to add a covered seating area in Phase 3 providing a shaded area and relaxed space for families to enjoy these fantastic new facilities.
The vision has been discussed with a range of our village population to ensure that what we hope to achieve is not just what we want but meets the needs of the community. We have discussed plans at our parish council meetings, spoken with the village school and pre school, and decided upon the most popular play equipment with a group of age appropriate children. We have worked through various plans and looked at the benefits of each piece of equipment with some really interesting results.
As I hope you can see we have worked really hard and have received fantastic support from local people and charities and we firmly believe that this investment into our community would be priceless and we hope that you will also see the value of this and the impact that it will have on all local people, in the village of Madley and in surrounding villages. It is our belief that by getting the children enthused by the changes and included in the decision making process we will encourage respect of the area and the wider community. We hope that our proposed improvements will encourage families to come together to play, chat and enjoy the fantastic area that we are lucky to live in.
