"Yoga is not to get out of this world, but to get in to it!"
Caring for others will bring you closer to liberation than anything else - Jivamukti Yoga.
I am Lucy, a Yoga Teacher in Bristol UK and this crowdfunder is to help me to raise funds that will aid me in bravely taking my next step towards my vision and teaching Yoga.
The ultimate vision that I have is my wish to contribute in the creation of a Global Community of Yogis, by aiding them to practice yoga in a liberated way, to help to create positive change in humanity, by teaching people to find their identity through their development of Yoga and Art of Living.
My journey so far...
After committing to over 17 years of practicing Yoga and over 4 years of study, devotion and dedication, I have to this day managed to self finance and make it a reality to complete a + 500 hour British Wheel of Yoga Teacher training diploma. This was a huge achievement not only to maintain it financially but to have the strength to continue through life challenges that included a pregnancy, a break up, an arrival of a new born baby, a house move, maintaining self-employment whilst studying and raising my two small children as a single parent, through sleep deprivation, and postnatal recovery as well as building back our lives here in Bristol. For much of my studies, my youngest would sit on the end of my mat, feed then sleep, whilst I immersed myself in practice and focused on learning how to teach the incredible practice of Yoga. It was through the teachings of Yoga and my incredible teachers so far, that undoubtedly supported me and made this all possible.
Since those challenging and enriching times, for the past 2 years I have successfully managed to begin teaching yoga in my home city of Bristol, UK and worked hard to create an offering that is known as A Yoga i-D. This simply teaches Yoga as a practice, rooted in ancient tradition in a modern way that is engaging and supports people to become inspired, to connect to each other, gather together and find their own identity through understanding compassion and life today.
I offer a Blog that I have committed to blogging once a week, every week, for the past 2 years, as a way to share the teachings of Yoga and my connections to it with my students, as well as being made available to a global online community through social media platforms for which I have followers and receive lovely regular feedback on and featured in Yoga's Top 10 Blogs online.
I have developed not only thriving classes here in Bristol, but an incredible community of Yogis whose own commitment, openess and support, blows my mind, as they continue to come and explore the Yoga I offer each week.
BUT!!!! Here is where the vision and essence of my Yogic teaching path will truly come alive...
In February 2018, I have the opportunity to become a student again for one month and travel to India to study with my mentors, two visionaries, Sharon Gannon and David Life, who have inspired and continue to inspire, a world of change through a method I feel so connected to and am willinging to travel half way across the world to learn, called Jivamukti Yoga.
Jivamukti is a physical, ethical, and spiritual practice, combining a vigorous hatha yoga, vinyasa-based physical style with adherence to five central tenets: shastra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahimsa ( non-harming), nāda (music), and dhyana (meditation). Animal rights, veganism, environmentalism, and social activism are also emphasized.
To embark upon this next journey I am asking for your help.
To say this is a dream, really is an understatement. Financially this is never going to be possible for me to do without support, let alone to take this leap of faith to travel alone for one month and complete this training by leaving my two little ones behind is a challenge I am willing to face. As, I believe that action needs to be taken now and the only thing that stops us from acting is when we give up and think this is never possible. If I had given up on this journey to take my Yoga out of my self practice and become a teacher, I would never have achieved what I have so far, even when there was not the support available.
My yoga practice and my teaching is something I am deeply passionate about, and I feel its my obligation to now take my next step.
It is through my journey of life becoming a mother, a yoga teacher and a part of Bristol community, so far with all its twists and turns, I have courage and self belief that we can achieve what we put our minds and energy in and to honestly and openly reach out and ask when we need a little help.
It empowers me more to continue to fully pursue my hopes and dreams so my children learn how to adventure and make their own dreams come true, by witnessing me bravely doing it.

If you are needing some reassurance about my current Yoga teaching and want to know more, here are some STUDENT TESTIMONIALS...
"I think finding the right yoga class can be a really personal thing, and when you discover one that suits you perfectly it's so exciting and inspiring. That's Lucy's class for me, the balance is always exactly right between mind and body. It's also a practise that encourages you to grow without ever letting you feel uncomfortable or pushed unnecessarily. This is the first time I genuinely can't wait for class each week, rather than dragging myself along to one because I think I should. I feel always, totally at ease, supported and surrounded by friendly, happy people. A total balm. Lucy sends out an email the day before class with what we will be focusing on and the ideas and themes we'll be exploring. We read it as a house before we go, it's always really beautiful crafted and puts me in this lovely head frame for the day and the class to follow. Basically, I just cannot sing this class' praises high enough." - Alex
"Lucy's teaching style is really informative and supporting, helping you think about and adjust your position without distracting your focus. I always leave the classes feeling energised and serene." - Richard
"An absolutely wonderful class. I am finally beginning to feel the connection between my mind, body and soul again which has been absent for some time for me. Nourishing, challenging, restful, thought provoking and supportive whilst on my current personal journey. A great class!" - Angeleen
