Luceat was founded by organists James Fellows and Rory Moules in August 2017, to sing services in cathedrals when a cathedral choir is on holiday. Since then, the choir has grown considerably in membership and standard, now incorporating some of the best choral scholars and lay clerks in the United Kingdom. We are hoping to celebrate these achievements in producing our first commercial CD, and bring our work to an ever-increasing audience. In doing so, we will place Luceat's reputation firmly on the map, as well as the musical reputation of Stratford-upon-Avon, from where it draws many of its members. Your sponsorship will help us achieve these goals, as well as improving access to the choir for young people-in the long run. We hope to be able to finance bursaries for our various tours.
The CD will also feature the premiere mixed choir commercial recordings of a number of beautiful works, including a gorgeous 15th century mass by the Spaniard Francisco de Peñalosa. It is also the first recording of the wonderful new organ (Principal Pipe Organs) in the Guild Chapel, Stratford-upon-Avon, which is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the finest organs in the midlands.
About this project
Now that the group has been performing together for a good length of time, we feel that this is the perfect opportunity to commit some of our favourite repertoire to disc. This will be our first album release, and will enable us to introduce this repertoire to new audiences as well as our friends and supporters. We're really excited and ready to make this recording, and we would be so grateful for any support you feel able to give.
The repertoire we'd like to record includes:
Assumpta est Maria-Palestrina | Missa Ave Maria Peregrina-Peñalosa | Gaudeamus omnes-Rota | Evening Service in G-Jackson | Ave Maria-Mendelssohn
We have some ways to thank you for supporting our project, which you can see listed on the right hand side of this page. These include:
