The story so far…

Lucas is 14 & has had an absolute passion for tennis since he started playing against a wall at the age of 4. His love of tennis & drive to compete have seen some really great results, starting at an early age when he won the Flybe mini masters aged just 8 & again aged 10.

In 2016, after training at Chagford Tennis Club for several years, Lucas was invited to join the ECC Tennis Academy and moved from Chagford to Exmouth so that he could train 12 hours per week with the Academy squad in the LED Exmouth Tennis Centre.

In 2017 Lucas played at Wimbledon after winning the Road to Wimbledon Devon County final and in November 2018 Lucas played his heart out for his school team from Exmouth Community College (ECC) to become National Schools Tennis Champions. Lucas has represented Devon since he was 10 and this year he has been selected for both the Under 18's & the Under 14's Devon County Teams, finishing 2nd in the National Under 14's County Finals.

Recent results...

This year's individual results have seen Lucas rise up the national rankings to number 36 in the country and include winning the Under 14's Grade 3 regional tournaments at Bristol, Newport & Bournemouth. In April Lucas reached the quarterfinals in his first National Grade 2 tournament beating the current UK number 6 along the way and during the May half term Lucas competed in Newquay winning the Under 16's in both singles & doubles.

Lucas's goal....

Lucas's dedication to training & competition success are pushing him up the national rankings but he needs to keep competing nationally to apply for funding or sponsorship. His long term goal is to obtain a university scholarship based on both his tennis and academic ability so that he can continue to compete throughout his studies and to follow his dream to be a professional tennis player.

Our aim and how the crowdfunding money would be spent....

The costs of competing regularly further afield at higher level tournaments are rising. Lucas competes individually 2-3 weekends per month as well as representing the county of Devon, Exmouth Tennis Centre & Exmouth Community College in national tournaments. We are hoping that with your help we can support Lucas with the costs involved in competing (tournament & coaching fees, individual lessons, equipment, travel & accommodation) and give him the opportunity to reach his full potential.

Please help us to support this promising athlete! Who knows...he may be the next Andy Murray, although Lucas would prefer to be the next Rafa Nadal!!
