As many of you know I have held a passion for education and teaching young people for a long time. I believe that every child should have equal access to a good education regardless of their start in life.
I am using part of my summer to travel to Malaysia, along with other teachers with the organisation Limited Resource Teacher Training (LRTT), to work with local teacher training providers and teachers themselves as a coach and mentor in Penang.
Currently in Malaysia, fewer than 20% of pupils finish secondary school, and there is a big divide between the achievement of pupils in rural areas compared to that of those in the city. The government is working with many international organisations as part of their Education Blueprint, which is where LRTT come in.
I am funding part of the fellowship myself but am also hoping for some sponsorship. As part of this, I have restarted running and am participating in some events with some partners in crime which I'll make sure to post about. I stopped running a few years ago due to a dodgy knee so hopefully it'll hold up! I'm also fundraising through events (some at school) and exam marking.
I'd really appreciate any donations however small. Thanks for taking the time to visit this page and read this.
