Loops Disco set-out to provide the learning disabled community in Frome the opportunity to enjoy a proper night out, in a proper music venue with proper lighting, a proper sound system and a proper DJs. Loops wants to expand it's activities and to train-up a group of 5 DJs with learning disabilities to be the 'Loops DJ Crew'. This would give them the opportunity to not only run the monthly Loops Disco event, but also set-up as mobile DJs that would be available for private booking, parties and community events. Loops delivered two school Christmas discos last year (with the help of lights and PA loans) and is seeking funding for the opportunity to normalise the idea of learning disabled DJs and musicians by giving them more opportunities to perform publicly.
The money from private bookings would be split 3 ways, 30% for the DJ, 30% for the staff to support them and 40% would go back into the wider aims of Loops Music Project such as delivering short-term music projects, future DJ training, working with pupils in special schools and delivering bespoke workshops.
Loops Disco will help build a flourishing and active community as the learning disabled DJs will be more visible within Frome and the monthly discos will bring the learning disabled community into mainstream venues. Also, the mobile disco trainees will help to promote prosperity across Frome as the learning disabled DJs will benefit financially, a group that is under-represented in local employment and enterprise.
At the moment Loops needs a little extra financial help before it can be self-sufficient and start to become an enterprise for the learning disabled community. To be taken seriously as professional DJs, our trainees need to have a professional set-up. This is where Crowdfund Frome comes in. For our target £2,250 Loops could acquire it's own lights, PA, DJ booth, provide 12 training sessions for 5 people over the course of 12 months and provide them with their own t-shirts. Once Loops Disco is funded, it will be able to provide for it's own needs and can continue to deliver high-quality discos for the learning disabled community BY the learning disabled community.
