Hello dear you,
As some of you know, I am training to be a faciltator with the School of Movement Medicine, which is a three year apprenticeship journey. I will soon be participating in a fundraising event alongside over 250 other heart warriors who will all be joining in a 72 hour traditional ceremonial prayer dance for 3 days and 3 nights in June this year.
The ceremony takes place every year in a large marquee in Somerset where a diverse mix of people connected to the Movement Medicine community come together to dance & raise funds for their chosen charity. The practice has roots in many cultural traditions, the most well known perhaps is the Sun Dances practiced by several Native American Nations, although some form of ritual dance is a central part of many faiths including most African traditions, Sufism & Judaism as well as being core to many cultural traditions in Europe. Me, I just love to dance, it is where I find my refuge & my sacred ground. I see my part in the deep ecology of life, and am aiming to take responsibility in whatever way I can to clean up my patch as much as possible. I have found dance & intentional embodiment to be powerful healers of consciousness, & strong allies in the path to individual & collective wholeness, reclaiming personal sovereignty & manifestation.
Each participant is asked to raise sponsorship for a charity of their choosing.. the idea is to dance as a give away, for the wellbeing of that chosen cause, as well as dancing for the well being of my friends, family and community. The invitation is to sweat my prayers, to fast & empty out, and call in a powerful vision that puts the wellbeing of the whole circle at the forefront. The charity I am raising money for is the Pachamma Alliance. I've been seeking charities with integrity, who cover areas of social justice, environmental sustainability & spiritual fulfilment. I feel that the Pachamama Alliance does all of those things and more. . www.pachamama.org
Any help you can offer would be much appreciated, however small. Please also feel free to get in touch if there is anyone or anything in particular that touches you & that you would like me to carry with me into my dancing prayer during the ceremony. In warmth and gratitude, Teya
