Workshops, talks, climbing, ceilidh and a hogroast - a community project with the North West Highlands Geopark to run the first Lochinver climbing festival.
Hello! We're the North West Highlands Geopark and we want to start a climbing festival in Lochinver in the Highlands. It will include workshops for climbers and beginners, talks from some of the country's most intrepid adventurers, a chance to climb in one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world and of course a tradional ceilidh with an optional hogroast.
Glencanisp lodge are onboard and have space for workshops and camping as well as iconic mountains such as Suilven and Canisp on the estate - what could be better?!
The rub is we need £2000 to kick everything off, so if you think it's a good idea please could you donate a couple of quid (or more) and help us get this thing off the ground!
Update: We have a preliminary date of the 11th - 13th of September 2015
The North West Highlands Geopark is a social enterprise, we exist to help people get to know the landscape in the North West, explore and have their own adventures. A big part of this is helping families here put down roots and find long term employment. Currently we're supported by the Scottish Government, but as of next year we have to stand on our own two feet financially. Establishing annual events like the climbing festival will help us continue our work in the future.
