We are a social enterprise who work with children and young people in Bootle, Merseyside to build skills in Computer science and technology. £2000 will help us work with 15 young people who have limited access to computers.
Little Sandbox is our tech club for kids aged 6 - 12. Our kids have a passion for technology, computer science and digital media, which can be a lonely hobby. Our club brings those kids together and provides a social environment as well as a learning environment.
Children are the future and so is technology. With more and more jobs being replaced by machines, it's clear that the most employable people in the future will be those that can speak robot. We're giving our kids the confidence and skills to be instrumental in the future technological advancements and have a better chance of thriving in the labour market.
Little Sandbox isn't part of a bigger organisation and it exists on the good will of the staff, all professionals in the tech sector, who give up their time to run the club. We have no funding for core costs such as rent, so the weekly fee just covers our weekly outgoings so we are unable to upgrade our equipment. We have been fortunate in recieving donations from the local community and businesses, who have given us their old computers and electrical items, but to really teach these young people, we need to be using equipment and software that is current and up to date.
Please help us raise the funds to buy some new laptops so we can, not only teach kids at our club, but go out into other settings so we can reach more young people.
