The Little Local Book Hub was started by Monique Hershkorn in Stanmore, North West London during the lockdown due to C19 in 2020.
The idea quickly spread to more volunteers, firstly from the region and then to further afield in the UK.
The simple aim was to share literature with others in the community when libraries were closed and finances were strained for many.
The volunteers received, sorted and advertised donations from the community with the aim to share, borrow and swop the books with those who were shielding or unable to access well needed lo-fi entertainment.
The feedback the volunteers received has been incredible, not to mention the satisfaction for the volunteers in “doing their bit”.
We’d love to continue this service despite the world slowly re opening. To do so, we need a weatherproof system that can be easily managed on a smaller level.
