To be able to purchase all necessary equipment, enough for 6 people to start, to make a bigger impact on cleaning up Rutland.

About Me

I'm Anneka and for the last 3 years I have been picking up litter daily from my county. Sometimes just as I go along my daily business and sometimes I go out specifically to clear an area. I sometimes to out with friends or family (or my dog) but quite often I also go out alone. I became a Keep Britain Tidy ambassador earlier this year and have also done events to raise money for Surfers Against Sewage to help tackle ocean pollution.

I'm passionate about both our environment and my county of Rutland. And so I put my two loves together and want to get my county clean.

Through Instagram I have come across many other people, and even travelled to meet some of them and help in their local area, all dedicated on keeping their part of the world as clean as possible.

My Vision

I would like to be able to make a bigger dent and impact in the litter problem in my local area and society in general as well as raise awareness to tackling the issue of plastic pollution.

I would also eventually like to visit schools in the local area to discuss tackling pollution and litter from and early age and teach the next generation how they can help our world.

I would like inland litter picks to be just as common to see as beach cleans. And to normalise picking up litter and making it less acceptable in society to throw it.

My Plan

My plan is to be able to form a group of 6 individuals, to go out regularly together and clean the streets, roads and countryside of Rutland. To do this I would need to purchase certain equipment to make this possible and safe:

 6 Litter Pickers

6 handihoops (to keep bags open)

2 Handiscoops (to safely pick up dog mess and other nasties)

1 Safe Pick Pouch (in case we come across any needles)

1 2 metre litter picker (for hard to reach objects)

6 hi-vis jackets

3  small hand sanitisers plus a big bottle to be able to refill these

12 pairs of  gardening gloves

Bin bags

I am looking to raise £500 in order to buy all this equipment (which comes to just over £400) and use some extra to put towards road signs for traffic to warn of litter pickers along the road and advertising.

I would be completely transparent on how the money has been spent via here and my Instagram account.

Thank you for taking the time to read.
