Over our 9 years of running the Foodbank we have developed our services as a charity to meet the needs of our community as best we can. In the last 12-18 months we have seen the need more and more to offer some practical support around helping our community build their personal resilience and wellbeing. We have seen long waiting lists for statutory services which often results in our clients mental health worsening and we have decided to do something about it. After much research we have begun training our staff and volunteers in WRAP, Wellness Recovery Action Plan.
WRAP is a wellness tool which helps participants to know their own limits and how to build resilience and wellness for themselves. This project will allow our team to take time with each participant and help them develop their own self awareness to be able to take responsibility for their life and their choices.
We believe in equipping and empowering our service users to become contributing members of society. It starts with a food parcel and listening ear but it often develops as the relationship and trust grows and opportunities are created to impart this support to our clients.
With this funding we will be able to train all our staff and volunteers in this project and if we raise enough support we will be able to bring on new staff to focus directly on WRAP.
