We're a dynamic young club currently playing in the South Midlands Spartan League. In addition to the First Team we also have a Ladies team, U23s, U18s and ten youth teams from age 8. Our Chairman, the well known author and broadcaster Guillem Balague, has overseen the progression of the club for the past five years and has introduced his own mix of Spanish style and British spirit with a strong focus on professional coaching for all our teams. Last year the First Team finished fourth in the division, the highest ever in our sixty year history!
And yes. This year is actually our Diamond Anniversary. Sixty years serving the footballing community in this small town in Bedfordshire.
Running a football club at this level (ninth Division) is not easy and we rely heavily on our volunteers to get us through the season. Money is a constant problem, although we have been fortunate to attract a few sponsors who help keep our heads above water. Just. The problem is when a big budget problem occurs for which we have insufficient funds. Currently we need to replace our floodlights which are rapidly reaching the end of their life cycle. The estimated cost is £20,000 and, we don't have the money!
This then, is a plea from the heart. Please help us to continue playing and growing as a team and as a community. Over the years we have grown into a family. Our club house welcomes everyone and the atmosphere on home game days is truly wonderful. Come along and see for yourself. Meanwhile, if you can help us raise the money to replace our floodlights, (without which, under FA rules, we cannot play!) then you will be doing your bit to support amateur football, our youth and the wider community of Biggleswade.
