If, with your help, we go beyond our target, the extra raised will support the promotion and profile of the whole festival. We know our young performers relish being part of something so big and love to spot posters on bus stops around the borough. Extra contributions will help us make an even bigger splash.

Lewisham Live is a collective of Lewisham arts and education organisations who collaborate each year to give young people incredible experiences, performing on professional stages. Events take place throughout the borough with support and mentoring from arts professionals and brings together the diverse communities of Lewisham in celebration of the immense talent of our local young people.
2018 marks the festival’s ninth year and will see over 2000 young people perform over six weeks, supported by ten brilliant local organisations and many, many school teachers, musicians and dancers, who give their time and resources for little or nothing.
Despite a strong support network, overheads and other local factors have increased our costs to produce the festival. This year we’re seeking a small amount of additional funding to keep our ticket prices affordable. Specifically, this funding will help four events at the magnificent, art deco gem, the Broadway Theatre.
The audience is just as essential to the young people’s experience as the mentoring, professional setting and their own dedication and hard work. However, average ticket prices to cover costs at the Broadway Theatre are around £15. That simply isn’t affordable for the many of family and friends who want to show their support to talented young people.
We’d use your contribution to keep ticket prices low – with a top price of £8 and a £5 concession.
Lewisham Live is an annual Lewisham institution; looked forward to by thousands of children, their teachers and families. The festival is open to all, no auditions, but the standard is amazing. Young performers of every background come from schools all over the borough. Live Dance and Live Voices at the Broadway Theatre are incredibly popular but even with packed houses, volunteers and in-kind support we cannot cover our costs. The experience for the performers and audience is so much richer at the Broadway Theatre than if the show took place in a school or community centre; the big stage, lights, dressing rooms with film star mirrors and packed auditorium fuel the excitement. Your help will ensure we can continue to use this venue and give the performers and audience a night to remember.
