Leusdon Memorial Hall stands robustly in the centre of the moor surrounded by rugged moorland a lasting memorial to all the people from Leusdon who gave their lives for us in the 1914-1918 war.
It is now coming up to its centenary and has just had an extensive repair and update so as to be ready for the actual opening date of its centenary in 2023.
We have recently spent over £20,000 to bring it up to a standard that will see it ready for the next 100 years.
Up until the recent Covid 19 pandemic it has been home to regular Coffee Mornings, Whist Drives, Choir practices, Afternoon Teas,Weddings, Christenings, Wakes, and many meetings which has helped hold our Community together. It has also been home to the Moorland Merrymakers panto for over 50 years.
Unfortunately these have all had to stop to protect our health and welfare ,this has resulted in a total loss of income. To alleviate this loss and prepare the hall for its reopening as soon as allowed, we have launched a crowdfunding page that will enable us to regain normality and be in position to commemorate our 100th Anniversary with the minimum of disruption and continue to pay our present essential bills. Please be as generous as you can not only to respect the people who gave their lives 100 years ago but also to ensure the hall continues for future generations.
