Anybody who spent time with VSO Gambia between 2009-20012 will have surely been to one of Max’s social gatherings at his house. Julbrew’s, Whiskey, amazing food and Karaoke on tap. Max is one of the friendliest guys I’ve ever met but unfortunately he’s come into hard times. You will probably know that he suffered some heart problems a few years back and now he’s struggling to get back on his feet and faced some adversity. Not only has he suffered from Covid but now battling against typhoon season. In Max’s own words:
• Dear sumster good sunday, hope all is good for u inspite of covid...At present im not really good and need a liitle help. After my surgery I have not landed a secure job, just 1or 2 small short projects and it has been almost 3 yrs now that I didnt earn enough to buy my daily meds maintenanance. I felt its worst than covid thats hits me and even the latest bad news is that a strong thypoon has removed all the roof of my rented room I’m renting from a friend houses me for a while and having no job gives me anxiety big time.
I don’t like to think of any of our group struggling like this, especially someone who added so much to our experience in Gambia. Let’s try and get Max back to his good self.
