13th April 2020Day 5 - Project Update!
Hello everybody.
We have been overwhelmed with the support for this initiative and pleased to say we hit our goal of £1500 after 3 days of launching it! We decided to shoot for the stars and extend this to £3000 so lets see where we can take this. If you know anyone who may be able to support or know of a group on social media where this may resonate then please share it with them.
In such uncertain times the generosity of everyone who has pledged is humbling. We are so proud to be able to turn this goodwill into life saving protective equipment. Thankyou!
What are we doing?
We've been hard at work making these donations into PPE and have now got a large stock for immediate dispatch. I've attached a few pictures below of some of our processes.
Matt is running our laser for as many hours as he can stay awake to cut the three different head band components. Even on his birthday! (no he's not really 50). He lasers them, then washes them so they are clean. Many of these are sent out flat pack as it more compact for shipping and storage, but we've assembled a load as well.
Shane is sharing his time between mechanically stamping the visors which is a quick process compared with the hand band and mixing alcohol hand sanitiser. Being a tech company we've re-purposed our Hydra Tech programmable rain controller to deploy an exact quantity of fluid into each bottle by a touch screen button! We was the bottles first, fill them, then add a product label and batch number and date sticker.
We're already getting these distributed and starting to make a real difference so well done everyone for your faith in us and helping protect our NHS heroes.
Who are we helping?
I spent time over the weekend liaising with Med Supply Drive UK to get these products distributed ASAP and we had 2 urgent requests for Face Shields that we have now met. These are:
- 100 Visors to Bristol Royal Infirmary ICU department.
- 200 Visors to Addenbrookes Hospital, ENT department.
Both were critical as they did not have enough and clearly of high importance given the hospital departments. Based on other requests we have also allocated donations to the following:
- 100 bottles of sanitiser to Royal Devon and Exeter NHS trust.
- 180 Visors and 50 bottles of sanitiser to Carehomes in Taunton.
- 50 bottles of sanitiser to Suffolk County Council.
We are also in discussions with Norfolk and Norwich NHS trust to see what they need and will update you as we make progress.
