A Heavy Metal Horror romance that grounds horror in real tragedy and to construct a creative and personal perspective on grief.

If we get the extra money, we will be able to further increase the quality of this film by distributing it to the members of our team that need it the most.

The Idea

Let Me Go is a personal comment on the process of grief. The film chronicles the mental and emotional journey of its protagonist, as they struggle to come to terms with the powerlessness of their situation and their total inability to prevent it.

The aim of the production is primarily to apply personal fears and real life experience to the horror genre to deliver a first hand message on the subject of grief.

Influenced by the work of James Wan and Mike Flanagan, the film will have a focus on atmospheric horror and blocking horror sequences as opposed to relying on jump scares. The film will also have a Gothic horror look to it inspired by filmmakers such as Guillermo Del Toro and Tim Burton.

As this chart shows (Set Design being the top red segment and going clockwise) the majority of our budget will be spent on production design to create the Gothic/horror atmospheric look that we want to achieve for our film. A large portion will also be spent on makeup in order to bring The White-Haired Demon, the antagonist of the film, to life. We will also need the makeup to ensure the gore elements of the film look as convincing as possible.

The Story

The film tells the story of Megan, an introverted, but resilient drummer of an emo metalcore band, and her extroverted yet vulnerable boyfriend/ front man, Mike. Their relationship is tested daily by Mike’s inner turmoil and hopeless perspective of life, however their love for each other and their music have kept them alive thus far.

One night, Mike is suddenly taken by the influence of a figure, known only as the “white haired demon”. Megan awakens to find her lover gone and must face her fears if she is ever to find him.
