Leicester City Women FC are looking to raise £10,000 to help sustain an incredible rise in Women's football in Leicestershire. The 2015/16 season saw all three LCWFC teams pick up their respective league titles and the club are hoping that 2016/17 will bring similar success, however with promotion to the Northern Division, the clubs annual running costs are set to rise.

The money will be used to cover ground upgrades including building a stand and turnstiles which are required for the higher division, whilst also covering;

  • Setting up the LCWFC Development Centre
  • Kit costs
  • Travel expenses and costs
  • Equipment costs
  • Pitch maintenance
  • Many other day-to-day running costs.

History of Leicester City Women

Founded in 2004, Leicester City Women quickly rose through the divisions to enter the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division in 2009. Peaking in 3rd placed consecutively from 2009/10 to the 2011/12 season. Unfortunately at the end of the 2012/13 season, Leicester City were relegated to the Midlands Division.

Finishing 2nd in both 2014 and 2015, the club hoped that 2016 would be a successful year coinciding with the launch of their Development Team who entered the Leicestershire Senior Women's League, the lowest tier in womens football.

2015/16 proved to not just be successful, but the most successful season in Leicester's history, they smashed multiple records as the First Team, Reserves and Development teams all stormed their way to league titles.

Leicester City Women's First Team recorded a Midlands Division record of 22 wins out of 22 as they led the division from day one after an opening day 8-0 victory. The first team to win 100% of their matches, finishing with a goal difference of plus 74 having netted an impressive 93 goals.

Leicester City Women's Reserves have undergone an incredible transformation, having finished the 2014/15 season in last place, the team progressed through the division over the 2015/16 season, and despite losing their opening two matches, finished top of the pile at the end of the campaign.

Leicester City Women's Development Team started in 2015 and have enjoyed a phenomenal first season, picking up 15 wins and 1 draw to be the first team across England to clinch their respective league title, whilst also progressing into the League Cup final (17th May).
