Following government guidelines issued on 17 March 2020, we, the LCO team, made the difficult decision not to go ahead with our concerts on 25 and 27 March. The health and wellbeing of our musicians, staff, soloists and audience is our first priority and with the latest recommendations of social distancing, we felt this was the only decision which supports the effort in stopping the spread of the virus.
The widespread cancellations amongst the arts will deal a devastating blow to musicians and audiences around the globe and we, at LCO, are working hard implementing ways to support our LCO family through this unprecedented time.
Freelance musicians are particularly vulnerable in situations such as these as they do not receive an income if they cannot perform. Therefore, we are asking that you consider helping us to support our musicians who would have been performing with us on 25 and 27 March.
Whilst we regret to say we are not in a position to be able to pay our musicians their full fees (which amount to £15,285) for these concerts, we will be making a starting donation of £2,500.
Please follow our social media platforms for regular updates and entertaining content to keep you engaged and connected with us over this time of isolation.
The LCO family is vast and strong and together we can use music to look beyond this challenging time.
Please help us support our musicians!
