Who are we?
Little Compton Bowls Club is a rural Bowls Club affiliated to the Warwickshire County Bowls Association. The club is open to all and is entirely run by volunteers with an aim to encourage greater participation in Bowls – both physically and socially – across every part of the local community and surrounding areas. The club has been the envy of other local bowls club within the area for its ability to attract young members and retain them, as a result the club has many junior members. It is a truly family oriented club and one that provides great opportunities for bowlers of all ages and abilities.
Our aim …..
1) Raise funds for the club and facilities to be maintained.
2) Attract more people to come and enjoy the game of bowls.
The club is an active social hub for the local community and surrounding areas, the facilities are also used by the local Business School, family events and social evenings. This community outreach is a key part of the club’s development, to engage and support the local community not just through playing bowls but through the clubs friendly and social environment, it is also a club that has worked hard at installing facilities for less mobile people.
Impact of Covid-19
Little Compton B.C. has always been financially self-sufficient, but the ongoing Covid-19 situation is having a big impact on the club’s income. Nearly all the income is generated through bowling memberships, matches, bar and social events during the summer. This income enables the club to cover all costs for the whole year, but with none of these activities happening, the club’s income levels are negligible, the club is estimating a shortfall of £5,500 in 2020.
Any money raised through this crowdfunding page, will help the club cover the cost of maintaining the clubhouse and bowling green - if it exceeds this then the club could be in the position to purchase extra equipment for coaching – so that the club can be in the best possible position for when the facilities are able to be used again. Without this funding it could have a negative impact on the club in future years, also potentially there could be a match incentive from Active Together and Sport England.
How can you help us?
1) Please give a donation of pre-pay for items in advance.
2) Come along and give it a go!
Bowls is a game for all, it provides exercise, the lack of contact means men, women and children can all play on the same team. Bowls is changing from blazers and ties to a more relaxed casual club coloured shirt, but still retaining smartness, which is more appealing to new and potential members.
As a volunteer, not for profit club, the club needs to generate donations from members, families, friends, local businesses and the wider community to help the club cover the shortfall and ensure the club can support all of its bowling and community initiatives over the next 15 months.
You can donate however much you feel comfortable with, the club is well aware that individuals have also been hit hard financially by the impact of Covid-19. The club welcomes all support, big or small, and encourage people to consider donating in one of the following ways:
