I am a classical composer based in Oxford, and am seeking help with funding a recording of my collection of settings of poems by the great English poet Thomas Hardy, with performers Jaivin Raj, baritone and Antony Gray, piano. The collection is entitled 'Late Lyrics' and features mostly poems from his later career, about memories of his youth and early loves, the beauties of nature, the transcience of life and acceptance of mortality. The score of the work is available to view and 'play through' on my page at Score Exchange:
There are eight poems in the collection: 'Seeing the Moon Rise', 'Yuletide in a Younger World', 'Thoughts at Midnight', 'Going and Staying', 'More than One Cuckoo?', 'Any Little Old Song', 'If it's ever Spring Again', 'Saying Goodbye'. If you are interested in Thomas Hardy and his work, there are excellent resources available at the website of the Thomas Hardy Society: http://www.hardysociety.org/
My personal website is at www.laurencearmstronghughes.com where you can find some recordings of my other music.
All who donate £10 or more will be entitled to a free copy of the recording on CD or free download. Please remember to click to 'claim your reward' so I know who wants one.
