I am an athletics coach and my athletes know the importance of being fit and healthy. They know the benefits of well being. We want to help our rural community with no public transport or facilities. We want to install outdoor gym equipment to benefit the entire community but especially the elderly people who can have mobility & flexibility issues. Over the age of 55 muscle wastage increases yearly. Just 2 weeks using these outdoor machines can build up 6 months of muscle.
Many older people can wait well over 6 months to get a care package here or stay in hospital or go to the old folks home 10 miles away. They would prefer to stay in our community and if we had these different gym stations, this would help build muscle in a gentle relaxed way. Stronger muscle helps with balance and mobility. There is less chance of falls and accidents, and these people would feel better and in turn this benefits their mental well being.
Over the next several years we would like to build up to around 16 different stations that would be free to use and suitable for the entire community, including the disabled. The machines are easy to use and virtually maintenance free. The company that makes this equipment is Fresher Fitness. They have installed so many trails all over England in schools, local authorities, Fitness companies etc. there are not many in Scotland and in the NE of Scotland where we are, the nearest are in Nairn (45 miles) or Inverurie (55 miles)
