#GiveAKit Cornwall

We need to act now to get digital devices to children, so they can continue to learn during the pandemic.

Together we can end the #digitaldivide

The Coronavirus pandemic has exposed a crisis in our schools

9% of all children don’t have access to a laptop, desktop or tablet to learn from home. 880,000 children live in homes without wifi (Ofcom, 2020).

Those who have access to a computer have a significant advantage over those who don't. The closure of schools has exacerbated pre-existing inequalities, widening the attainment gap for disadvantaged young people.

Jacquie Halliday-Bell on BAME Children's Computer Fund 10th May 2021

I wholeheartedly support this crowdfunding project. Young people have been disenfranchised by the Covid situation particularly those from less privileged backgrounds. They need to know that people care about their future.

Premier Choice Group on End the digital divide for Lewisham Children 15th April 2021

Dear everyone at Lewisham Learning in London, Congratulations on getting your fundraising project up and running. We undertook our own challenge earlier this year with a view to supporting the various projects obtaining #kit4kids too (https://www.premierchoicegroup.com/team-pcgs-kit4kids-campaign/) and we're now ready to share that money with some really great projects in the community. We see you've got a long way to go but wanted to donate some of the money we raised to help you on your way! Well done for all your hard work and we hope this helps provide wifi and laptops for pupils in Lewisham in this ongoing time of need. Best wishes from Team PCG x

Jim Dickson on Lambeth Appeal: End the Digital Divide 12th April 2021

I am donating £50 on behalf of a very generous constituent of mine - Michael Boyle. Huge thanks on behalf of Lambeth residents.

Donate to a national charity

The National Grid for Learning are a UK charity helping to bridge the divide by bulk purchasing devices for education. If you can’t find a school you want to support, donate to LGfL and they will buy devices for students in need.

Ending the Digital Divide in Camden Schools

In Camden, when schools closed in the first lockdown, more than 3,000 pupils were without access to a computer at home.

Camden Council set up a crowdfunding campaign to help end the digital divide, raising funds to buy devices for disadvantaged children in their Borough. They raised over £60,000.

Thanks to your amazing generosity, we’re currently in the process of distributing the first 96 computers to schools and have ordered a further 154
