#GiveAKit Cornwall

We need to act now to get digital devices to children, so they can continue to learn during the pandemic.

Together we can end the #digitaldivide

The Coronavirus pandemic has exposed a crisis in our schools

9% of all children don’t have access to a laptop, desktop or tablet to learn from home. 880,000 children live in homes without wifi (Ofcom, 2020).

Those who have access to a computer have a significant advantage over those who don't. The closure of schools has exacerbated pre-existing inequalities, widening the attainment gap for disadvantaged young people.

Ending the Digital Divide in Camden Schools

In Camden, when schools closed in the first lockdown, more than 3,000 pupils were without access to a computer at home.

Camden Council set up a crowdfunding campaign to help end the digital divide, raising funds to buy devices for disadvantaged children in their Borough. They raised over £60,000.

Thanks to your amazing generosity, we’re currently in the process of distributing the first 96 computers to schools and have ordered a further 154
