We know that our young swimmers are missing keeping fit and healthy, their friends and the team spirit of our friendly club.
We'd usually be running training sessions every week night, with around 100 swimmers attending each week. We want to restart pool sessions as soon as we can do so safely. But we'll have to do things differently and we’re worried that there will be an unsustainable gap between our costs and our income.
We usually run on a shoestring, but we've not been able to do our usual vital fundraising activities during lock-down, so our fundraising is already behind for the year. We fear that there will be a reduction in swimmer membership and therefore our income from fees. When we reopen, pool fees will our biggest cost by far. But we also may need to help swimmers buy training equipment, support struggling families and pay for more training for our coaches and helpers.
We’d also love to be able to provide additional pool time or land training and to do some other team building when we have the opportunity.
This campaign aims to raise the funds to enable us to reopen and to keep our club sustainable in spite of the challenges that coronavirus has brought.
