To bring POC Creatives together in a dedicated space to reduce the isolation often felt in the arts.

by Aisha Ali in Bristol, England, United Kingdom

New stretch target

Put it towards advertising/marketing, further collaborations, new events, developing the group into a collective, starting a mentoring programme

After our successful launch on February 24th, 2019 at The Wardrobe Theatre, one thing was clear from our performers - they face a lot of isolation as POC in the arts and often are forced to perform solo. We're keen to create this dedicated space in recognition of this and in an attempt to address that isolation and bring POC Creatives in Bristol together to collaborate and eventually mentor other POC Creatives who are just starting out. In a society where we are often "othered" and face the daily oppression of racism, on top of the hardships of being in the arts in the first place, it is a political act to put ourselves front and centre and say, our voices matter. Please help us raise funds to allow POC artists of different artistic disciplines to collaborate for the first time and expand their artistic horizons with other and not be the "minority" in the room.
