I'm running 144km to try and raise £2000 to help my local church find a viable future for our historic thatched listed building at risk.

Good luck with this fantastic project to restore one of the few remaining thatched cottages in Northern Ireland and help regenerate the beautiful and historic town of Kilmore. Kilmore holds a place in my heart, as it did for the poet John Hewitt, whose ancestors, like mine, are buried in the churchyard close by the thatched cottage. I'm reminded of the opening lines of his poem 'Townland of Peace': “Once in a shower summer, sick of war, I strode the roads that slanted to Kilmore.”
